Frequently asked questions
Is this a full chess analysis board like other sites?
Yes — continuous Stockfish analysis, a branching move list, PGN and FEN import/export, and arrow-key navigation. It also does one thing most analysis boards can't: start directly from a screenshot.
Does the engine run on a server?
No. Stockfish runs as WebAssembly in your browser, so positions are never sent anywhere.
Do I have to enter a FEN or set up the board?
No. You upload the picture and the board is reconstructed for you. FEN is available afterwards if you want it, but you never have to type one.
Is it free?
Yes. The board is read and analyzed right in your browser, there is no sign up, and you can do it as many times as you like.
